Dr. Doug Heck
President



Pastor Doug and his wife Ellen, have seven children, ages10-30, and 5 grandchildren, ages 1 month-4. They minister from Seattle where they founded Horizon Church, and have pastored the people for more than 20 years.

Captured by a vision to disciple all nations, this church has birthed 9 daughter congregations, six in other languages. Doug has coached and assisted in 26 new church plants, emphasizing multi-cultural church starts. He speaks internationally at churches, conferences, and colleges on the power of the Holy Spirit, ministering gentle encouragement with a prophetic wind that ignites fires and builds faith.

Pastor Rick Kong
Dean of Horizon College



Pastor Rick speaks four languages (Korean is his native tongue). He has a passion for worshiping God, teaching people, and planting churches. He has an M.A. from Fuller Theological Seminary, and is currently finishing the degree program for his Doctor of Ministry at Fuller. He earned his degree in Advanced Graduate Worship Studies at Robert Webber Institute for Worship Study and a Master's degree in Music. Pastor Rick studied for his Musical Doctorate at University of Washington.

After studying and training in Korea and U.S.A., Pastor Kong became a pastor in the Korean community around Seattle and Los Angeles, which he has done for many years. Rick still teaches choirs in public schools in Federal Way, as well as serves as the Sr. Pastor of Faith Church in Federal Way, WA.

Daniel Heck
Business Manager



Dan is an accomplished, loving husband and a devoted friend. His passion is for the freedom of his generation. Dan assists with the financial aspects of Horizon College, as well as administrates the daily needs of Horizon Church. Most importantly, however, he helps to inspire growth and change in those around him. Dan’s compassion and genuine care for our students is a gift to our ESL program.

Danyal Schultze
Office Administrator



Danyal has her Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies with a minor in Education. Having learned Spanish as her second language, Danyal is familiar with the challenges of living in a foreign country and learning another language. Her servant’s heart and administrative gifts assist many in fulfilling their hope to learn English. Danyal administrates the daily needs of the office, as well as helps foreign students to receive and maintain F-1 visa status.

Ryan Brown
ESL Teacher for Federal Way Campus



Ryan is a graduate of Seattle Pacific University, having earned his Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Political Science. He also has a post-baccalaureate certificate in TESOL from Seattle University. In addition to teaching with Horizon College, Ryan is an associate pastor at Horizon Church. His love for God and for people is evident to all those who know him.

Shaun Wilson
ESL Teacher for Seattle Campus



Shaun has been an ESL teacher for 14 years, earning his "Advanced Certification in TESOL" from the University of Arizona. He has traveled to over 40 countries and taught around the world in India, Thailand, Sri-Lanka, South Korea, Brazil and Mexico. In the States he has taught ESL in California, Oregon and Washington State. His interests are traveling, music, Bible studies, and outdoor activities such as mountain biking, hiking and rock climbing.
